Irchester is a famous Roman town with many recorded sites. This marker records the old coal oven. There is an old black door set into a semi-circular, tiered structure now with the village sign embedded in it. Nearby is the Irchester Narrow Gauge Railway Museum within Irchester Country Park.

The plaque reads as follows:
'IMPROVED COAL OVEN
T REYNOLDS
IRON & BRASS FOUNDER
HARROWDEN'

We have tried to find more information about this feature from the local historical society but to no avail as yet.
Type of Historic Marker: Metal Plaque and Coal Oven
