Leading up to the tower is a pathway made of bricks, some of which have dedications on them. These bricks are apparently from an old "Buy a Brick, Save the Tower" program that was run in the late 1990's. A newspaper editorial from 2005 asks the question of where the money went. While the funds that paid for the origial dedication stones is not clear, there is a new fundraising effort that is doing quite a bit better.
