?The leftmost bronze plate beneath the Dough Boy states as follows:
DEDICATED TO THE MEMORY OF
OUR COMRADES FROM CARTER COUNTY
WHO ENTERED THE SERVICE

THOSE WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES
