This trail is the four-mile beginning segment of a planned twelve mile trail south through Santa Clara, Cupertino, and San Jose. It's urban, but off-street, with pedestrian underpasses at road crossings, and trail users can enter or leave the trail at each block. There is easy access to public transit along the route, although city parking may be scarce. There are a few water fountains and benches along the trail.
The Bay end trailhead is actually a trail junction with the San Francisco Bay Trail, and there is no way to reach this trailhead by vehicle. It's accessed on foot or bicycle through Baylands Park.
