"...The best preserved structures in Ruin Canyon are, however, on the south rim. ERODED BOULDER HOUSE, perched atop a projecting rock much like Square Tower, is chiefly remarkable for its position, but the dwellings adjacent to it show clearly the method by which the Pueblos laid their mortar."
--- Utah: A Guide to the State, 1941
Along the Ruin Canyon Trail at the Square Tower Group at Hovenweep, the Eroded Boulder House shows how the Pueblos utilized their surroundings in the structures. The boulder house was built on a projection from the canyon walls, literally inside a boulder. It is evident from debris along the top of this boulder, that a structure, most probably a tower of sorts, stood atop this unique dwelling.
I couldn't help but think about the Flintstone's when looking at this structure.
