The Merchants Restaurant & Bar is located on Broadway in downtown Nashville, right in the middle of the popular downtown live music district.
The building was originally the Merchants Hotel, built in 1892. The History write-up tells an interesting story. The original Grand Ol' Opry started in the Ryman Auditorium across the street from the Merchants Hotel. Over the years, many famous country performers like Hank Williams, Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton, Porter Waggoner, etc stayed at the Merchants.
