The Merrimack Restaurant (now defunct) has hosted several presidential candidates on their visits to New Hampshire. This mural, on the south wall of the building (facing Merrimack Street) presents some of them in a light-hearted parody...Although the restaurant has closed, and the building is for sale, the mural itself (recently repaired after hate-based graffiti was applied) will likely be preserved as a tourist landmark. 04/27/09 UPDATE: The building remains unsold, and in an effort to make it more marketable, the owners have decided to remove the mural. Sandblasting began on 4/23/09, and has taken three work days so far. SEE PHOTOS for the destruction in progress. How sad; this in a period where Manchester's police chief is encouraging building owners to APPLY murals, because it cuts down on graffiti. What da heck.
