Parking down the side street available but only park on one side of the road to provide easy access to the local residents.
Track WAS very overgrown with lantana and trees along most the length. Recommend either a machete, or a preferably brush cutter, line trimmer etc. However, the track is still clearly defined.
It is a 1.5km walk from the parking area, follow along the gap between a fence and the train line embankment and follow along till the fence ends then climb up the embankment and over the train bridge, along the train line to the tunnel.
The walk across the bridge makes the walk interesting as there are no side rails to hang onto while crossing the bridge and there are several plants growing through the support beams.
The tracks original path was visible in Dec 2013 despite lantana covering most of it and we had to clear a path. So some of the hard work has been done! The walk is not challenging but not suitable for prams etc. On our way back (due to having already cleared a path), it only took us 24 minutes.
It is a flat walk to the tunnel. The tunnel is home to stacks of glow worms. On our visit there was only one Microbat inside the tunnel.
