You cannot miss this by the LARGE white stone wall surrounding the property. Easy to Locate and Photograph.
From the State Historical Marker
Built in 1847 by Dr. Edward Scratchley. Occupied as school by Marianite Sisters from 1859-1862 & 1865-1975. Occupied as Military Command by Union Army 1862-1865. Renovated by Lt. Governor and Mrs. Robert L. Freeman-1990"
I also located a great deal of history from the Register application, found here:

St. Basil's was built c.1850 by Dr. Edward Scratchley as a private residence. In 1859 he sold it to the Sisters Marianites of the Holy Cross and it became a girl's school. Apparently it acquired its present name in 1856 when the school was chartered as an academy and given authority to grant diplomas, In 1937 St. Basil's Academy was merged with a boy's school under the name St. John's High School. Given the fact that St. Basil's was a school for over 100 years, it is surprising that anything remains at all of its original Greek Revival character.
