The Ronald McDonald House of Akron was established in 1985. It is a home away from home for families of patients being treated at the Children’s Hospital Medical Center of Akron.
Our house is run by the Board of Trustees, three full time staff, one part time staff and over 100 volunteers.
We have twenty rooms, each with a private bath. There are three kitchens and six washers and dryers.
We do not receive funding from United Way, or any money from government programs. Our house is not owned by McDonalds. Our funding is through individual donations to the house.
Since 1985, we have welcomed over 150,000 individuals into our home-away-from-home.
