METRO VS-61, VA, is a survey disk mounted in the sidewalk runs along the north edge of the outdoor “Kiss and Ride” (coin-meter) parking lot located immediately east of the south entrance (on the south side of Interstate Highway 66) to the Vienna METRO station in Fairfax County, VA. The disk is mounted flush with the top of the sidewalk near the northeast corner of the lot, about 300 feet east of the center of the METRO station entrance, about 33 feet north of the northwest-most parking meter in the northeast-most row in the “Kiss and Ride” lot, about 22 feet east-southeast of a black, metal light pole, about 12 feet northwest of the center of a “Y” intersection of two sidewalks, 11.75 feet northeast of the northeast curb of the lot, about 11 feet north-northwest of a 12-inch tree, 5.25 feet north of the south edge of the sidewalk, and 3.5 feet south of the north edge of the sidewalk. The disk was probably set by the Washington Metro Area Transit Authority (WMATA), the agency responsible for DC's METRO (subway) and bus systems. It is stamped METRO VS-61 although, due to several sever gouges in the disk, the “V” is not readable. To reach from Interstate Highway 495 west of Washington, DC, take Exit 49 to Interstate Highway 66 westbound. Go west on I-66 for about 2.25 miles to Exit 62 for Nutley Street southbound. Go south-southeast on Nutley Street for about 0.10 miles to the intersection with Swanee Lane leading northeast and Saintsbury Drive leading west. Turn right and go north-westerly on Saintsbury Drive for about 0.40 miles to the driveway entrance to the “Kiss and Ride” short-term (coin-meter) parking lot on the right. From the parking meter at the northwest end of the most northeasterly row of parking spots in the lot, walk north for about 33 feet to the sidewalk and the disk mounted flush in the surface of the sidewalk. Recovery of this disk was first logged at the Geocaching datasheet for station K 383, PID = HV2664.
