As a leader in community healthcare, St. Luke’s is a fully accredited 540-bed hospital. Founded in 1884 as Cedar Rapids’ first hospital, St. Luke’s today offers a diverse range of patient care services with particular strengths in cardiac care, rehabilitation, obstetrics and trauma care.
St. Luke’s Hospital has officially opened its newly renovated and expanded Emergency Department (ED). The expansion adds over 13,000 square feet and ten additional private rooms, which provide patients easier access and faster service.
St. Luke’s is one of the busiest Emergency Departments in the state. The old ED was built in 1972 and was not designed to accommodate the over 52,000 patients St. Luke’s cares for each year.
