Three hours are suggested for exporling the ghost towns of Howardsville, Eureka, and Animas Forks. There are many ghost "towns" out the the hills were hundreds of mines have been drilled, explored and abandoned. At Animas Forks, you can wander through the remnants of a 19th century mining town.
Access to Animas Forks is on CR-2, about 4 miles past Eureka.
