The shell itself is concrete and it sports a stage that is 30 feet deep and has a 50-foot frontage. Behind the shell is a building with dressing and rehearsal rooms.
In front of the shell is a fan-shaped audience area that rises to an elevation of 25 feet in the back. This area seats 5,000 people, who enjoy a variety of entertainment acts that perform during the State Fair of Texas.
Surrounding the audience area are 30-foot-tall, concrete-and-stucco light and sound pylons.
Because I couldn't get into the seating area, the coordinate are taken from outside the fence on the east side.
If the band shell looks familiar, perhaps you are a fan of the movie “State Fair”. One of the scenes in the 1960 film – starring Ann Margaret and Pat Boone – took place here.
