On the public grounds of the Evansville State Hospital is a large and old Cherry Bark Oak. There is a sign which states "This tree is over 200 years old. The distance around the tree is 22 feet. It is 95 feet tall with a spread of 133 feet. It is officially recognized in Indiana's Big Tree Registry." dated 1991.
To get to ESH grounds, from I-64 take exit 164 South, exit at Lloyd Express Way and travel West. Turn left at light on Vann Ave, turn left onto Lincoln Avenue. State Hospital is on your left. Drive around to duck pond on the east side of the park. To the east of the pond you will find the sign directing you to the tree.
