QD1070 - USCGS E369, Oregon - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

This benchmark is located along an abandoned section of the old Century Drive, about 23 miles west of Bend. The cap is set in a lava flow outcrop, about 25 feet west of the old road, now a winter ski trail. The cap was set by the U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey in 1942 and was marked E369. The mark is located about 0.2 miles NE of the present Cascade Lakes Highway which replaced the old Century Drive in about 1965.

DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1963 23.3 MI SW FROM BEND. 23.3 MILES SOUTHWEST ALONG CENTURY DRIVE FORM THE POST OFFICE AT BEND, 1.7 MILES WEST OF THE JUNCTION WITH THE ROAD GOING TO BACHELOR SKI LIFT, 30 FEET WEST OF THE CENTER OF THE ROAD AND 2 FEET NORTH OF A METAL WITNESS POST IN A 3 BY 3 FOOT BOULDER THAT PROJECTS 8 INCHES.
