Built during the Great Depression, the 30th Street Station has served for more than 70 years as Philadelphia’s principal railway passenger station. Once used as the headquarters of the Pennsylvania Railroad, the station and its attendant trackage have undergone little change since the completion of their construction in 1934. The station serves the only high speed rail line in the US, as well as inter-city passenger rail, commuter rail, subway, streetcar and bus. In addition, it is located immediately adjacent to Interstate Highway 76, known as the Schuylkill Expressway.
