This concrete dam dates to the 1930's and forms one of the smaller of 10 reservoirs which serve Santa Clara county. It is filled by winter rain draining from the Guadalupe River watershed, mostly from the area of Almaden Quicksilver Park.

No boating is allowed, but fishing is allowed from the banks. Unfortunately, any fish are unsafe to eat, since mercury concentrates in the aquatic food chain in this watershed.
