This Historical Marker plaque is a memorial to a bomb which destroyed this building.

The plaque reads as follows:

'DUNCHURCH & THURLASTON WORKING MEN'S CLUB
DESTROYED BY ENEMY ACTION ON
THE NIGHT OF 19TH NOVEMBER 1940
REBUILT 1951'

There aren't many details available but male Dragontree has memories of the bombs during his childhood. Just up the road he remembers his father cycling along between Atkinson Avenue and the old post office when he nearly rode into the crater created by such a bomb. There was another which fell on the A45.
