This Pier stretched over a kilometre into the ocean, constructed frommore than 1000 copper clad turpentine Piles, each 22.5 m long. They were haulded out to low tide by bullocks and then towed by boat to the pile driver. Officially opened in 1917 when the first train was driven onto the pier.
