"The construction is similar to that of the BEQUET-RIBAULT HOUSE (private} near it to the south, which has walls of cedar posts planted vertically in the ground (poteaux en terre), and originally had galéries on all four sides, with whitewashed, plastered walls. Despite changes, many interesting details have been preserved, such as the en queue d'aronde shutters pegged with wooden pins." - Missouri: A Guide to the "Show Me" State, 1941, pg 280.

The house has been restored and is a contributing building in a National Historic Landmark Historic District.
