Kern Street School - Thomasville, NC - Former Schools on Waymarking.com

Kern Street School was one of three elementary (K-5) schools in Thomasville until the early 1990's. In 1992 there was a shift in the schools in town. Thomasville Primary School (K-3 at the time) opened and Kern Street school and one other elementary school in town were closed. The third elementary school, Liberty Drive Elementary, was converted into just a 4th and 5th grade school (at the time). So, a town with 3 elementary schools, became a town with one primary school and one elementary school. Now, Liberty Drive Elementary holds the third graders too, and Thomasville Primary is K-2.

Kern Street School has gone through several owners since its classroom days. For a while it was a Bible College. It is the current headquarters of Penuma Pentecostal Church of Deliverance. There is also a day care on the property. The former playground area doesn't appear to be part of the property anymore.
