This handsome memorial was placed by the General Curtis Relief Corps (the Women's Auxiliary of the GAR) number 28 on Memorial Day, May 30, 1897. The orb at the top reads:
Rest, Soldier Rest.
The text of the Memorial reads:
The flag they fought for
(American Flag)
To the Memory of our Unknown Dead
They Sleep on Southern Battlefields and 'Neath the Ocean Wave
General Curtis Relief Corps No. 28
dedicated May 30, 1897
Behind the marker are a dozen Civil War Veteran graves. In front of the Memorial is a lighted American Flag.
