On the outside wall surrounding the Vatican State lies a fountain, located on Viale Gregorio VII close to Porta Cavalleggeri.

The design, using a recycled ancient roman sarcophagus as the catching water basin, is typical of many wall-mounted fountains throughout the city (also known as "sarcophagus fountains").
