The Guildwood Inn was permanently closed in 2001 and boarded up. The park and garden area remained open to visitors but the building became a bit of an eyesore. The Boys and Girls Club of East Scarborough took on the task of painting window looking murals on the boarded up windows to take away some of the drab appearance.
