Fred Folsom coached the CU and Dartmouth football teams around the turn of the century—CU from 1895-1902, then Dartmouth from 1903-1906, and then again at CU from 1907-1915.
"Folsom came to the university as a football coach and a law student in 1895. He coached football for 16 years, practiced law in Denver and Boulder while continuing his commitment to the football team, and taught at the law school from 1905 until 1943. Folsom met his wife, Mary Elwell, as CU students and they had four children: two sons, Franklin and Fred, and two daughters, Sarah and Helen. Together the family left a lasting legacy that spans 100 years, three generations, and touches on many important events and periods in CU, local and national history." from (

This stadium is primarily used for CU football games, but also hosts spring graduation ceremonies and is the finish line for the Bolder Boulder. Concerts are also held there. It is a U shaped stadium, with the open end of the U on the north end. The open end of the U is filled in with the Dal Ward center, the athletic department's building. Until 1944, the name was Colorado Stadium.
The given coordinates are for the south end of the stadium, underneath the sign reading "Folsom Field."
