PGE Park was originally constructed as Multnomah Stadium in 1926, though this location had been used for events since 1893. The stadium's rather odd "J" shape allows for a variety of sports to be played here. There have been baseball and American football teams playing here since the opening. This was also the home of Portland's entry in the old NASL, and currently hosts Portland's USL first division team. The stadium has a capacity of between 19-25,000, depending on the sport and configuration, and has had artificial turf since the early 70s.
Which World Cup: 1999 and 2003
Famous matches (optional): The biggest soccer matches were the 2003 semifinals, played as a doubleheader on October 5. Both the United States and Canada lost their respective matches that day.
