The duck pond used to be a swimming pool as part of a private yacht club and resort. When the city took over, the pool was turned into a duck pond in the Baylands Preserve park. People are not supposed to feed the ducks, and the rangers can fine you for doing so. Still, many people bring food, and the ducks are tame and fat.
