Terlingua is more of a small community than it is a town. Their Web Site really pumps it up and makes it look like really something when it really isn’t. It is more of just a small Mexican type village located in extreme south Texas adjacent to the Rio Grande River, border of Mexico. It also has the distinct feature that it is located near the unique Big National Park. It is only about 3-4 miles to the west entrance to the park. Terlingua is a special place, because of its deserts, its mountains, its views. Highway 170 to Presidio along the Rio Grande a drive of about 70-miles through mountain country is very scenic.
