May their service to their country be forever honored by the citizens of the county. [On either end of the long wall of names sit concrete columns. Upon them are plaques to the special generation (World War II), and especially to those groups that seldom receive praise or thanks. The Merchant Marines, Civilians, and the Reservists.]

 Description of Memorial: Large sweeping black marble and concrete semi-circle memorial. About a third of a block in length. The back marble wall lists the names of everyone who served from this county. There are several marble post separating the sidewalk from the actual memorial. Inside is a central column, six sided with graphics of each branch of service. The beginning and end of the circle is held with a concrete column and special plaques. These list the KIA, and tribute to the Merchant Marines, The reserves and to civilians during World War II.
The entire effort is backed with a wrought iron fence and three flag poles. All on the court house lawn.
