This church was built in 1863. In 1886 it was moved from its original location near the cemetery to this site on the "main street" of tiny San Juan Bautista. It has been used continuously as a church, for a number of different Christian denominations.
Coordinates for original location are an estimate for a building site across the street from the cemetery. There is no information on how the church was moved; given the date of the move, it could have been on a sledge drawn by oxen or mules.
