In 2007 the Best Public Art category was won by a cluster of sculptures rather than a single piece: the Meridian Energy Wind Sculpture Walk along Cobham Drive in Wellington.
These wind sculptures, sited along the windy city of Wellington's waterfront at Evan's Bay, are attractive to see in the daytime but at night they are illuminated and provide a stunning display if the wind is blowing, and it usually is in Wellington! Not only are they attractively lit but they also move in the wind. Once completed, the project will have six sculptures along the walkway.
At present there are four sculptures, "Zephyrometer" at the Haitaiti end of the drive, "Urban Forest", "Tower of Light" and "Pacific Grass" at the Miramar end.
The co-ordinates are given for the Haitaiti end of Cobham Drive which can be either walked or driven along at night to view the sculptures.
