Red Pike forms part of the Mosedale Horseshoe, and is normally climbed from Wasdale Head,The Mosedale horseshoe is a circle of mountain ridges around a side valley from Wasdale head, the horseshoe is a popular walk.
The summit cairn of Red Pike stands dramatically on the edge of crags on the Eastern face of the mountain.
The coll between it's neighbor fell to the South is known as Door Head, from this coll the scree drops very steeply for 1000 feet to the valley bottom, this makes an exciting descent but great care must be taken on the unstable scree.
Altitude in Feet: 2707
