Introduction/Background
Noor-ul-Islam Ontario, Islamic Association of Simcoe County was formed on the 14th of October 1977. It is a registered charitable organization in Canada (registration number 0527572-39-13). The association brought together Muslims from all over the world predominantly living in the Simcoe County. The primary aim of the Association has been to create conditions conducive to the growth of Islam, to provide Islamic education and to organize religious activities.
On 30th of June 1989 the Association purchased a house for over $125,000 in 51 Little Lake Drive, Barrie, Ontario, Canada. The location was not adequate for the plans that the community had. It was a long cherish dream for the Muslim of the area to get a proper place, Hamdulilla 21 June 2004 Allah honored Barrie and the surrounding area with the first Mosque at 155 Ferris Lane. The building comprises two floors on the top floor are main hall for prayers, separate prayer place for females, lower floor has rooms are for various Islamic activities, kitchen and large activity area and washroom. In the new location Inshallah we will be able to widen our activities to many people including Non-Muslims who have not heard the Message of Islam.
Current Activities
Daily and Friday Prayers in congregation.
Activities for youth with main focus on Iman, Islamic behaviours, Quran reading, and observance of all Islamic events.
Taraweeh Prayers.
Prayers in the Holy month of Ramadan
The Mosque/Islamic center will not only serve the Muslim community, but will Insha-Allah be the focal point for calling others to Islam and conveying to them its pure message, through lectures and other events. The educational facilities will provide our children with solid understanding of the Holy Quran and Hadith.
