"Belair was built circa 1740 by Samuel Ogle, Governor of Maryland. Through the years the mansion became known as the "House of Governors" because governors Thomas Blayden, Benjamin Tasker Sr., Benjamin Ogle I, Oden Bowie and Christopher Lowndes were also associated with it at different times."
