"Since 1868, 43 officers who served with either the Savannah Police Department or Chatham County Police Department have been killed in the line-of-duty.
Each year, SCMPD honors those officers, and other law enforcement officers from the area, who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the safety and security of their community during its annual Police Memorial Day Service. The event is held in mid-May at the Police Memorial Park located directly across the street from the Barracks on Oglethorpe Street.
