Biographical Plaque
Albert Einstein was born at Ulm, in Württemberg, Germany, on March 14, 1879. Six weeks later the family moved to Munich, later to Italy. He finally completed his secondary education in Switzerland, eventually taking Swiss citezenship.
Albert Einstein's intellect and pioneering work in physics were prodigious. He is perhaps best known for developing the theories of special and general realtivity.
In 1921 he was granted the Nobel Prize "for his services to Theoretical Physics, and especially for his discovery of the law of the photoelectric effect."
Einstein, though retaining his Swiss citizenship, became a citizen of the United States of America in 1940, and remained in the U.S., continuing his work, primarily at Princeton Univerisity, until his death in 1955.
