This caboose is part of the California State Railroad Collection.

As part of this collection the caboose may be located at various locations in the Old Sacramento State Historic Park. The caboose appears to have been on display here since at least 1998. Sometimes it is on the east side of the depot sometimes it is on the west.

"UP 25256 is a CA-5 steel cupola caboose. It was built as UP 3856 in July 1952 and was renumbered 25256 in June 1959. Union Pacific retired the car in September 1983 and generously donated it to the California State Railroad Museum where it is located today."
