This garden covers 4 hectares (10 acres) and was built in 1513 by a retired court offical, Wang Xiancheng. It epitomises the principle of Chinese gardens design by recreating the world in a small space. Water, rocks, buildings and plants grace the space.
My personal favourite of the chinese idea of garden design is the 'borrowed view' where if your neighbout has something nice to behold, you allow it to be seen from your garden.
(The name of the garden could be taken to mean the Humbled Administrator as the gentleman was forced to retire as he was caught misappropriating the Emporer's funds. Still he retired with enough money to spend the equivalent of millions on the garden.)
