The church of St.George in the town of Barrow in Furness was the first wholly Anglican church to be built here in the town,it was built in 1860,on land donated by The Furness Railway Company,and was licensed for worship.
The church stands in a prominent and elevated position at the top of Salthouse road and the corner of Church street,and what is now St.Geoge's Square.
The church is of geometric Gothic design,the massive tower soars to a height of 75 feet.
The church is 75 feet long with North and South aisles,and a chancel,
Their is seating for 1000 people in the church.
