The land for Goodwin Park was donated to Lebanon, New Hampshire by Edmund and Dorothy Goodwin in 1974 for the purpose of creating this park. The land was given with the restrictions of no commercial building, use only for recreation, no tree cutting, except to develop hiking, skiing or snowmobile trails, and no removal of gravel or minerals. In 1975, the Lebanon Conservation Commission, was given control of the land for development of the park. The first trails were opened in 1980.
