Very nice course and grounds. I walked the grounds with no problem. Lots of easy parking. There is an Art exhibit building now sharing the clubhouse. Tennis courts and a tennis center. Well landscaped and maintained. Well groomed. I do not play golf, but if you do this would be a fun historic place to play.

Here is a brief history taken from the application I found <ahref="http://www.crt.state.la.us/hp/nhl/document2.asp?name=17077001.pdf&title=City+Park+Golf+Course">here.
Baton Rouge’s first public golf course was completed in 1926 and officially opened in 1928. It is a short, 34-par, nine-hole course with a clubhouse that combines the Colonial Revival with a tile roof in the Spanish Revival taste. With the obvious exception of the maturation of trees and other vegetation, the course looks much as it did upon completion.

Here is the offical BREC info I found BREC SITE.
Conveniently located off interstate 10 and Dalrymple Drive. This 25 acre, nine-hole course is notable for its natural beauty, mature trees, lake vistas, a small bayou, and terrain that is mountainous for Baton Rouge. Ground levels vary by as much as 25 feet.
Built in 1926, designed by Tom Bendelow, it is one of 20 courses in the country to be placed on the national register of historic places as the community's first municipal golf course. City Park is now open after undergoing major renovations from tees to greens (renovations by Craig Schreiner). The golf course now features four par-3 holes and five par-4 holes with an overall course par of 32.
