The Texas and St.Louis Railway came to the area in the 1880s and Fordyce was home to 2 lines, the Cotton Belt and the Chicago, Rock Island, and Pacific railways. This depot is now offices for Union Pacific railroad. "Cotton Belt" main line runs through town. Of special interest here is a still functioning, though unused semaphore.
