In 1976, the first vineyards were planted at Amalthea Cellars. Founder Louis Caracciolo’s infatuation with winemaking began as a young boy while making wine in the cellar with his Italian immigrant grandfather.

These Wines are made from the grapes of Sunny Slope Farms grown along the Cohancey River. The long growing seasons and mild winters are reminiscent of the properties of Bordeaux that border the Gironde River. The microclimate created by the Cohancey produces wine grapes the likes of which I have never seen in New Jersey
