The plaque says "Built in late 18th century by the Howells family THE SPINNING AND WEAVING MILL for the carding and spinning of wool into course cloth. The Warren Conservation Committee 1994."
The mill is situated between Castle street and Belmont road, the plaque being in Belmont road. After learning mechanical skills as a clockmaker Thomas Howells designed and built his own machinery for processing wool.
