At the time it was built, the ornate 200+ foot-tall gothic steeple on this church vied for attention with the nearby City Hall. Now, twentieth-century buildings dominate the skyline.

The Arch Street Methodist Church was constructed in 1870 and was the first major project completed by architect Addison Hutton (1834-1916) in his distinguished career. The steeple and facade of the church are constructed of white Italianate marble. The building is also a Historic Methodist Site.
