Monument text:
1861. Here was training Camp of Confederate Regiments from the South on their way by rail to Virginia to join General Lee. In front of this marker was the parade ground. Erected by U.C. Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy.
The old parade ground is now an older neighborhood. The immediate area is torn up with road/sewer construction which is expected to be done before winter, thus no area picture uploaded yet.
