The history of the Wauseon Library begins as do many other noble endeavors: with a bake sale. In 1875, the Ctizens’ Library Association was formed. They raised funds through membership fees, bake sales, and social events. Various stores, a church, and the courthouse housed the book collection until a Carnegie grant was secured to build a permanent library.
The two story Federal style building was opened on 26 May 1906. The Citizens’ Library Association contributed their collection of 1800+ books. In the 1980s, a new addition was built to enlarge the library. It was completed in 1986.
