Mackenzie's chocolates has a quite a history in this location, having opened in 1984, and being staffed by the third generation of the same family. One of their most popular products has local roots - the molded chocolate "banana slug" which is in honor of the school mascot of the University of California, Santa Cruz. In chocolates with cream fillings, they use freeze-dried fruit for real flavor.
