Henry Leavenworth practiced law in Delhi, NY prior to the War of 1812. During his miltary career he established a miltary post in Kansas which now bears his name; Fort Leavenworth. Upon his death General Leavenworth was buried at this spot until 1902 when his remains were removed and reinterred at Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery.
